The Rockaway Beach Library Branch exists because of its Friends.
In 1999 a group of residents created a nonprofit Friends organization to repurpose the house used as a meeting place for the Rockaway Beach Woman’s Club into a space for a library. The Tillamook Library agreed to provide books, a librarian, and technology (computers, printers, and WIFI) along with other services, such as being able to order a book from the main library!
The Friends of the Rockaway Beach Library are responsible for the maintenance of the building and ensure services such as electricity, water, sewer, and heating are available. The Friends coordinate with the Library Staff to offer local programs for residents and visitors.
